About the client
Transparency International
Headquartered in Berlin, it has chapters in over 100 countries, aiming to combat corruption, promote transparency, and strengthen accountability in both public and private sectors.

The project
In 2015, Maven provided simultaneous interpretation (SI) services for Transparency International’s Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The event gathered 350 international participants, including representatives from TI’s Berlin headquarters and various country chapters, to discuss global anti-corruption initiatives, policy strategies, and governance reforms.
The conference required French-English and Spanish-English interpretation across multiple sessions spanning two full days (August 31 – September 1, 2015). Given the length and intensity of the sessions, we adapted our setup to include expanded interpreter teams and additional logistical coordination.

The challenge
Extended Sessions & Interpreter Fatigue – The conference schedule required interpreters to work full-day sessions, making it necessary to strengthen interpretation teams to maintain quality and accuracy.
Booth Adjustments & Team Expansion – Due to the demanding workload, each language pair was increased to three interpreters instead of the usual two, allowing for smoother rotations and sustained performance.
International Interpreter Deployment – Some specialized interpreters were flown in from overseas to meet the high linguistic and thematic demands of the event.
Multi-Stakeholder Coordination – The project required seamless coordination between TI’s Berlin headquarters, local TI's office, and the technical service provider handling the interpretation equipment.

The outcome
Our Approach & Solution
Strengthened Interpreter Teams – We increased each interpretation booth to three interpreters per language pair, ensuring continuous coverage while preventing fatigue over long sessions.
Global Interpreter Sourcing – We recruited and deployed interpreters from overseas to ensure top-tier linguistic expertise and familiarity with anti-corruption terminology.
Close Coordination with Technical Team – While TI provided the interpretation equipment through their vendor, we worked closely with their technical service provider to ensure proper integration and troubleshooting.
Flexible Adaptation to Schedule Changes – Given that the schedule was subject to last-minute changes, we maintained real-time communication with event organizers to adjust accordingly.
Outcome
The Transparency International AMM proceeded smoothly, with seamless multilingual communication across all sessions. By adapting our interpretation team structure, reinforcing booth capacity, and deploying international expertise, we ensured high-quality interpretation throughout the conference.
Our ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders across different time zones demonstrated Maven International’s expertise in managing large-scale, multi-language events with complex logistical requirements.
