Asian Football Confederation

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body for association football in Asia and Australia. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, it oversees competitions, development programs, and regulatory matters for 47 diverse member associations. Covering one of the largest and most culturally varied territories among FIFA’s continental bodies, the AFC plays a key role in uniting national federations across East, Central, West, South, and Southeast Asia under a shared footballing framework.

The AFC (and FIFA) offices in Kuala Lumpur have been our clients since the year we were incorporated. However, we had been working with them as a team of interpreters even prior to that. Since 2013, we have consistently provided professional interpreting services and relevant equipment support at 2–3 events every year for AFC. These include seminars, conferences, and congresses held across Malaysia and China. Our services span simultaneous interpretation (SI), remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI), translation of select written materials, and full equipment and tech support tailored to each format. Over the years, we’ve deployed Arabic, Mandarin conference interpreters, and Russian conference interpreters based on specific language needs. This long-term relationship reflects our commitment to consistent delivery, responsiveness, and a deep understanding of AFC’s operational rhythms.

Confidentiality in interviews often involve sensitive discussions, requiring interpreters who can operate under strict confidentiality agreements and maintain discretion at all times.

Consistency Across Events – With multiple events annually, it was crucial to establish interpretation consistency so that terminology, tone, and speaker preferences remained uniform across different forums.

Future-Proofing Interpretation Resources – As AFC’s needs evolved, so did the demand for a reliable talent pipeline to ensure a steady succession of qualified interpreters trained in sports regulations, governance, and legal matters. This included sourcing Arabic language interpreters, as well as Mandarin and Russian conference interpreters, with the appropriate subject-matter experience.
