In 2014, the Chief of Defence (CHOD) Conference brought together top military officials and defense representatives from various nations. Hosted in Brunei, the event required simultaneous interpretation (SI) across multiple languages to facilitate clear and accurate communication among global defense leaders.

Maven-Interpreted played a key role in ensuring the event's linguistic and technical success, providing ten professional interpreters along with a full audiovisual (AV) solution and all necessary interpretation equipment. The project was executed in collaboration with a US-based language service provider, combining expertise to deliver a seamless multilingual experience.

Logistical Complexity – With no local interpreters or equipment available, the entire setup had to be brought from overseas. To keep costs manageable, the interpretation equipment was shipped by sea, requiring advanced planning and coordination to ensure timely arrival.

High-Security Environment – Given the nature of the event, all interpreters, technical staff, and equipment had to comply with security protocols.

Non-standard Interpretation Setup – While the interpreters were physically present at the venue, the booths were stationed in an adjacent room, requiring a real-time audio and video feed to ensure they could accurately follow the proceedings and deliver seamless simultaneous interpretation.

Full AV Integration – Beyond interpretation, the event required a comprehensive, seamlessly integrated AV solution that unified sound, video, interpretation, and microphone systems into a cohesive, holistic setup, ensuring flawless multilingual communication throughout the conference.

The CHOD Conference successfully facilitated discussions among high-ranking defense officials without language barriers. The combination of carefully selected conference interpreters, reliable equipment & qualified technical support team ensured a seamless multilingual event.
